My Work

Elopement inspiration to help you daydream about your day.

“What the heck are we supposed to do for an all-day elopement?”

This is one of the most common questions I hear about elopements. I know it sounds kinda crazy at first, because what is an elopement other than saying vows?

Think of it this way:

You can still “go big” for your elopement, but you don’t have to go big on all of the things that are for other people. You don’t have to spend a ton of money on a venue, gifts for guests, alcohol and catering for 100+ people, decorations, or spend the majority of your time waiting for guests. You can go big by doing all the things you truly value for your day. Maybe that means splurging on a private chef, taking a helicopter ride to a glacier in Alaska, hiking through wildflower meadows, or maybe even just doing what you’d normally do at a wedding, but with only the most important people who are closest to you.

I recommend photographing the whole day, because:

  • It tells the whole story of your day.

  • It gives your friends and family the ability to relive your day if they aren’t present.

  • It’s the only thing you’ll have to remember the day once it’s over.

  • Document how the whole day felt, not just the ceremony.

What do we do other than the ceremony?

Let’s forget about what a traditional wedding looks like and just think:

If you two could plan the best day together, from sun up to sun down, what would that day look like?

  • Where would you want to spend the day?

  • Where would you want to wake up?

  • What would you want to go and see?

  • What activities would you do together?

  • What would you eat?

  • What would feel memorable?

  • What would make you feel the most celebrated?

Imagine the Possibilities.

Saying your vows somewhere that’s really special to the two of you is the most important part of the day, but just like any other wedding, that’s not all there is to it. It’s more than “just an hour of pics with the two of us”. You have earned the right to have a whole day dedicated to celebrating you and your love, and the options are endless for how you can to celebrate. No two elopements are exactly the same, but I have examples here that will help you dream and plan what you might want to do for yours.
